The City of Piqua, in partnership with DB Utility, began a water meter changeout project earlier this week. This project is part of the City’s ongoing efforts to improve water system efficiency, accuracy and long-term service reliability. Work is expected to be completed by mid-December.
Residents whose meters are being replaced can expect the following:
- Brief Service Interruption
Meter replacement takes about 20 minutes, and crews will make every effort to minimize the interruption and restore service as quickly as possible. There will be a short disruption, approximately 15 minutes, to your water service during the meter replacement. - Meter Access Needed
Crews will need clear and safe access to your water meter pit. Water meter pits are located on property exteriors just behind the curb or sidewalk. If applicable, please ensure pets are secured and any obstructions are removed. - Door Hangers
After work is completed, crews will place a door hanger on the handle of your front door to confirm the meter changeout. If additional work or a follow-up visit is needed, the door hanger will indicate next steps. - Proper Identification
All DB Utility and City of Piqua vehicles will display official magnets and signage. Crews will wear badges and high-visibility outerwear identifying them as authorized workers.
