The City of Piqua is partnering with Rumpke Waste & Recycling to provide refuse, recycling and yard waste collection beginning March 31, 2025. Rumpke’s service will include the same collection offerings, carts and pickup schedule as the City is currently using.

Customers can expect to receive a mailer from Rumpke detailing its sanitation program. The City of Piqua has shared the flyer on its website and also updated the site with frequently asked questions, five-year rate information and other resources.

The City of Piqua Sanitation Division will continue to collect refuse, recycling and yard waste as in the past through the transition, assisting with training the new drivers as they onboard. The full-time employees of the City of Piqua Sanitation Division will be kept whole and have accepted offers to transfer to full-time positions with the City of Piqua.

The transition follows Piqua City Commission authorizing the city manager to enter into a contract agreement with Rumpke at its February 4, 2025, meeting and approving amendments to Chapter 50 of the Piqua Code at its March 18, 2025, meeting. The rates are guaranteed for five years with an additional five-year option and represent a multi-year fee savings to residential and commercial customers in the City.
