[ARCHIVED] Piqua detectives execute narcotics search warrant, arrest two suspects

Detectives with the Piqua Police Department executed a narcotics search warrant at 425 ½ W. High St. and 427 W. High St. on Friday, February 6, 2026. 

The Piqua Tactical Response Team, with assistance from the Sidney Tactical Response Team, made initial entry and secured the location at approximately 9:15 a.m.

Detectives recovered evidence of drug abuse and narcotics trafficking during the search of the residences and arrested two suspects on outstanding warrants, Richard Beverly, 38, and Matthew Cartonia, 40, both of Piqua. The suspects are being held at Miami County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing and criminal charges are pending the results of the investigation. 

Two children, a four-year-old and a 17-year-old, were present at 427 W. High St. Miami County Children’s Services were contacted and assisted with placing the children with family members. No one was injured during the incident or arrest. 

Piqua Police Department’s investigation of activities at the properties was initiated by a tip received from a member of the public, which can be made to law enforcement anonymously. Anyone with information about drug activity is asked to call Piqua Police Department at 937-778-2027 or Crime Stoppers at 937-615-TIPS (8477).
